Restricted CBD Zone
The Mashhad Central Business District (CBD) congestion management program started late March 2007 as an experimental project. The goal is reducing traffic congestion throughout the CBD and according to comprehensive study a restricted zone defined. Regarding the ministry of interior and the high council of traffic approvals, the Mashhad Central Business District (CBD) congestion management program will start again this summer on 22-6-2009 six days a week (Fridays excluded) and would cover all the streets end at Imam Reza holy shrine. The drivers that pass the borders into the zone without any legal justification will be penalized.
Congestion management program covers below mentioned areas: Basidj sq. West Danesh St. Imam Khomeyni St. Shahid Hashemi Nejad St. Railway sq. Shahid Kaveh Blvd. Shahid Gomnam Sq. Vahdat Blvd. 17th Shahrivar St. East Danesh St.
Program Hours: 8:30 – 20:30
It is recommended that pilgrims use public transit system instead of their private cars to help us having better traffic condition in the zone, Parking facilities near congestion zone borders: Regarding parking demand increase along the congestion zone borders Mashhad Transportation and Traffic Org. (MTTO) has provided new temporary and permanent parking areas according to the following list:
